Seigla Festival's opening recital will be uniquely transformed into an art exhibition by visual artist Júlíanna Ósk Hafberg. During the performance, she will visually interpret the music's narrative, creating a live art experience for the audience. The recital features pianist Ástríður Alda Sigurðardóttir, soprano Jóna G. Kolbrúnardóttir and mezzo-soprano Kristín Sveinsdóttir, performing beloved Nordic vocal music by Ture Rangström, Jórunn Viðar and Jean Sibelius.

Following the recital, the art exhibition will remain open in Norðurljós, allowing attendees to explore the artworks created during the performance, read the corresponding poetry, and engage with other guests, artists and performers.

The exhibition will be accessible to visitors of Harpa and Seigla in Hörpuhorn throughout the festival weekend, from August 9th to 11th.

Festival Opening

This year Seigla Festival’s opening ceremony takes place in the beautiful and bright space behind Silfurberg called Eyri. The festival team will present Seigla, its story and the people behind it. Join the performers and organisers for a drink before the opening recital while Pétur Ernir and Vera Hjördís will introduce the festival programme and the highlights of the weekend. Erna Vala, Seigla Festival’s artistic director and founder, will introduce the people of this year's edition. Trumpeter Ingibjörg Ragnheiður Linnet will perform a short piece to open the festival.
