Seigla 2025
Open Call

Applications are open until
March 30th

We are now accepting applications from musicians interested in participating in Seigla Festival 2025. The application period is open from March 12th to March 30th, 2025. Apply here.

Seigla 8.-10. August 2025

Seigla will take place at Harpa Concert Hall from August 8th to 10th, 2025.
Concerts will be held in Norðurljós Chamber Hall and in open spaces throughout Harpa.

Seigla is a chamber music festival that has been held annually at Harpa since 2021. The festival is known for breaking away from the traditional concert format and offering new and different experiences than typically expected at classical concerts. One of Seigla’s main goals is to create a sense of community between performers and audiences—where everyone feels part of a collective experience. Seigla is committed to increasing access to classical music in Iceland, promoting creativity and new music, supporting Icelandic musicians, and encouraging equality and collaboration in the field.

This year, Seigla will continue its collaboration with an ongoing doctoral research project at the Royal Academy of Music in London, led by pianist and artistic director Erna Vala Arnardóttir. This research focuses on the relationship between performers and audiences, and Seigla participants will be invited to take part in research related projects throughout the festival.

This year’s open call theme: Narrative

The open call for Seigla 2025 is centered around the theme “Narrative”. We invite applicants to interpret the theme in the most diverse and personal way possible. The approach can be from all kinds of perspectives, whether it looks at how the concert experience can create a shared narrative between performers and audience, or how the music itself may carry a narrative. The music, text, interactions or space could all become part of a larger narrative. The idea can either be clear and defined or experimental and open.

The festival programme from last year’s Seigla is still available on the website to give an overview of the kinds of events that have happened in the past. Seigla is also on Facebook and Instagram where you can take a look at past projects and some festival highlights.
