Ástríður Alda Sigurðardóttir
Ástríður Alda Sigurðardóttir achieved her Recital Diploma at the Reykjavík College of Music under the guidance of Anna Þorgímsdóttir. She further studied with Reiko Neriki at Indiana University - Jacobs School of Music at Bloomington, where she gained her Artist Diploma. Ástríður has attended many master classes and private classes in piano and chamber music with artists such as Geörgy Sebök, Ludwig Hoffmann, Janos Starker, Jürgen Schröder, and Olaf Dressler.
Ástríður has performed widely, both as a soloist and with other musicians. As a soloist, she has performed the piano concerto of Jórunn Viðar and the 2nd piano concerto of F. Chopin with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra. Her solo album, Chopin, featuring the Four Ballads and B-minor Sonata, was published in 2010.
Ástríður is a member of the Elektra Ensemble, the 2020 Icelandic Music Awards ensemble performer of the year. The ensemble regularly works with living composers and gives the premiere of their works as well as performing repertoire from the classical period through to our days. Their first album, Elektra, was published in the year 2019. Ástríður has also collaborated extensively with many of the finest Icelandic singers, from lieder to opera, to Icelandic songs, and Finish tangos. The latest album, Thorsteinson & Schumann (2021), was released by Outhere Music label Fuga Libera in 2021, where she collaborates with Andri Björn Róbertsson, bass-bariton.
Ástríður Alda teaches and accompanies at the Hafnarfjörður Music School.
