Rebekka Ingibjartsdóttir
Rebekka Ingibjartsdóttir has a four-year BA degree in choral conducting and singing from the Norwegian Academy of music. She conducts Norwegian and Icelandic choirs in Oslo professionally and has conducted and produced one-week long choral seminars in Iceland that focused on Scandinavian music, summer 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. She knows the Norwegian and the Icelandic choral traditions very well and has taken numerous courses and masterclasses, including Norwegian folk music course at the Ole Bull Academy in Voss and taken part in masterclasses about folk music for choirs with Grete Pedersen and Gunnar Eriksson. Rebekka is also an avid violinist and has experience in playing across many genres including improvised music both in big ensembles and smaller settings. Furthermore, Rebekka has a BA degree in musicology from the University of Oslo where she studied the positive impact musical training has on the brain. This is a part of her motivation to bring music to the public through her choirs and especially the children’s choirs. In NORÐFÓLK Rebekka wants to give motivation and encouragement to singer and folk musicians across genres and border, bridging the gap between performer and listener with interactive music and storytelling.
