Icelandic-Slovenian violinist, Rannveig Marta Sarc, is increasingly recognized as a multifaceted musician and has performed throughout Asia, North-America and Europe. She has performed concertos with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Slovene Philharmonic, Bacau “Mihal Jora” Orchestra, Iceland Youth Symphony and Orchestra Matutina, among others.  As a chamber musician, she has performed with Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players and appeared at festivals in Ravinia, Prussia Cove, NEXUS- Chamber Music Chicago, Taos, Aspen and Kneisel Hall.

Rannveig has been concertmaster with the Juilliard Orchestra, Civic Orchestra of Chicago and served as substitute 3rd concertmaster with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in 2022. She is a member of New York Classical Players and regularly performs with the Chicago Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. 

Rannveig is a recipient of numerous awards, including the 2022 Luminarts Strings Fellowship, first prize of the 2021 Musicians Club of Women Scholarship Award, American Scandinavian Society Cultural Grant and was voted “Newcomer of the year” at the 2022 Icelandic Music Awards. 

Rannveig is an avid performer of contemporary music and commissioned and premiered six Icelandic duos for violin and viola as a member of Duo Freyja, which have been released on an album by the same name. She holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from The Juilliard School, where she was a proud recipient of a Kovner Fellowship. Her teachers were Catherine Cho, Laurie Smukler and Donald Weilerstein, as well as Robert Mealy on baroque violin. Rannveig is based in New York City where she enjoys a versatile freelance career as a performer and teacher.
