An Evening on Bilker Street

AUGUST 10TH AT 20:00, Norðurljós

Tickets

This programme draws inspiration from the famous musical soirées of the 19th century, exemplified by the gatherings held by Robert and Clara Schumann on Bilkerstrasse in Düsseldorf. Music-loving friends and family would gather in their living room to play, sing, and exchange ideas. Often showcasing works-in-process, some masterpieces of the chamber music repertoire were first heard there, including several pieces on this programme.

During this evening on Bilker Street held in Norðurljós, Harpa, cellist Geirþrúður Anna Guðmundsdóttir and pianist Antoine Préat interweave works by Clara, Robert and their dear friend Johannes Brahms with other colourful pieces from the cello repertoire in an effort to recreate those magical moments on Bilker Street.

The bar will be open, and attendees are welcome to bring their drinks into Norðurljós to enjoy during the concert.

Pre-concert CHAT at 19:15

Have a drink in Yoko's Corner and listen to Seigla's performers talk about the upcoming concert, talk about the programme and the music they will be performing later that evening,
