Ólína Ákadóttir

Pianist

Ólína Ákadóttir (born 2002) began her piano studies at the age of four at Sigursveinn D. Kristinsson Music School, where she studied with Þórunn Hulda Guðmundsdóttir. In 2021, Ólína graduated from Reykjavik College of Music, where she studied with Svana Víkingsdóttir. After graduation, she started her bachelor's degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music with Christopher Park as her professor. In the fall of 2023, she will be doing an exchange year at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire in Georgia.

Ólína has been active in various independent music projects. In the summers of 2020 and 2021, she participated in Listhópar Hins hússins, performing with the groups Borgarblóm and Stundarómur. In 2022, Stundarómur went on a concert tour in Iceland and Norway, that received fundings from the Rannís Music Fund and the Reykjavík Summer City Fund. Ólína has also been actively performing with the music group Tríó Frigg in concerts throughout Norway. In the summer of 2023, the group will perform in the summer concert series at the Sigurjón Ólafsson Museum.

Ólína has received awards in the Chopin Competition organized by the Polish Embassy in Iceland in 2019 and the EPTA Piano Competition in 2018. Alongside her studies, Ólína works as a light and sound technician at the Norwegian Academy of Music, and she also teaches piano at the Oslo Private Musikkskole. In the summer of 2023, Ólína, along with Ásthildur Ákadóttir, are organizing a creative music course for children, which has received grants from the Children's Culture Fund of Rannís and the Brothættar Byggðir fund in Stöðvarfjörður.
