Ester Aasland

Clarinetist

Ester Aasland (born in 2002) is a clarinetist from Western of Norway. She has played in differing orchestras from an early age, and has been a part of different talent programs during her upbringing. She has received several scholarships, like Time municipality’s Culture Scholarship and the Norwegian Aareskjold Scholarship. She has also received 1st price in the Norwegian Youth Music Competition in 2021. During this competition she received the Inspirational Price for her performance.

Ester is currently studying at the Norwegian Academy of Music where she is taking a bachelor in music pedagogy with Fredrik Fors as clarinet teacher. During her studies she has explored several different ensembles and genres, such as contemporary microtonal music in Ensemble Lime, improvisational music in Stette Collective and participated in wind band competitions with Christiania Wind Ensemble. Ester has written a concert for children that premiered last spring, and has been invited to the Norwegian Chamber Music Festival. Ester is looking forward to visiting Iceland for the first time to be a part of the Seigla Festival.
