Pétur Ernir Svavarsson

Pétur holds a MA degree with distinction in Musical Theatre from the Royal Academy of Music as well as a BMus in Piano and Voice Performance from the Iceland University of the Arts. Upon graduation from IUA, he was awarded the Halldór Hansen Award for Outstanding Achievement. In 2015, he was awarded third prize in the European Piano Teachers’ Association (EPTA) Piano Competition in Iceland, and in 2020 he won the Audience Prize in the Vox Domini Vocal Competition as well as a prize for his performance of Icelandic arts songs. Most recently Pétur was highly commended at the Sondheim Society’s Student Performer of the Year Competition, held at the Sondheim Theatre in the West End in London.

Pétur has performed with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra as a singer and storyteller at their family concert, featuring songs from plays by Astrid Lindgren. Pétur was also chosen to participate in The Iceland Symphony Orchestra’s Orchestral Conducting Academy in 2020. He is the Artistic Director of the music festival Við Djúpið and project manager of Seigla Festival.
