Ann-Kristin Sofroniou

Pianist

Kristín Sofroniou is a Cypriot-Swedish pianist, composer, and researcher. She focuses on contemporary classical and baroque music, and particularly on the space between the two, combining experimental practices, artistic research, improvisation, everyday life, and self-made “games” as tools for exploration and creation. Alongside her performance activity, she develops projects that combine music, abstract storytelling, and audiovisual media. Her recent projects include PIANOSCAPES, a video series pairing everyday moments with improvised classical music.

She is currently preparing the release of her first album, Darkness Visible (Protomaterial Records, November 2026), featuring original electroacoustic works alongside movements and fragments from Bach’s Partita in E minor, BWV 830. Using piano, synthesizers, and soundscapes from everyday life, the album unfolds as a continuous electroacoustic journey.
