Ólína Ákadóttir

Ólína Ákadóttir is a young, Icelandic pianist. She began her music studies with Þórunn Hulda Guðmundsdóttir at the Sigursveinn D. Kristinsson School of Music and later studied with Svana Víkingsdóttir at the Reykjavík College of Music. She completed her bachelor’s degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music with Christopher Park, including a one-year exchange in Tbilisi, Georgia. In the fall of 2025, she will begin her master’s studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen.
In 2024, Ólína was one of the winners of the Young Soloists competition and subsequently performed Jórunn Viðar’s piano concerto with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed as a soloist with the Master Orchestra Verona (2024), Sinfóníuhljómsveit Unga fólksins Youth Orchestra (2023), and a chamber orchestra with students from the Norwegian Academy of Music (2023). Ólína has appeared at various music festivals in Iceland and Norway, including the Asker Chamber Concert Series, the Blue Church Summer Concert Series in Seyðisfjörður, the Sigurjón Ólafsson Museum Summer Concerts, and the Seigla Music Festival at Harpa. In 2025, she received an award in the Ungdommens musikkmesterskap competition with her chamber group, Trio Akostra. That same summer, she performed the orchestral part in the opera Suor Angelica with the stage group Gjallandi.
Ólína is actively engaged in making her own music projects and places strong emphasis on innovation. In 2025, she premiered the concert ” Travel Stories from Georgia” at Hannesarholt concert hall and has since performed the program seven times in Iceland and Norway. She has participated three times in The Young Artist in Residence Programs; in the summer of 2025, she is creating a musical based on the works of Jórunn Viðar together with soprano Steinunn María Þormar, as part of a creative summer job program in Kópavogur. Ólína also runs the Máfurinn music courses alongside Ásthildur Ákadóttir, and together they have held 12 creative workshops for children across Iceland. Additionally, Ólína has led a collaborative project between the Iceland University of the Arts and the Norwegian Academy of Music, organizing a concert tour in Iceland for students from the latter school.
