Sigríður Ásta Olgeirsdóttir
Director
Sigríður Ásta is a young performer, theatre maker and musician. She began her musical studies aged 4 at Borgarfjörður Music School where she studied violin, piano and singing. She continued her vocal studies at Reykjavík Academy of Singing and Vocal Arts and went from there to the University of Music in Vienna, Austria.
In 2017 she made a drastic change of direction and started her acting studies at Copenhagen International School of Performing Arts, from where she graduated with a BA in acting in spring 2020. Sigríður has worked independently in theatre in Iceland and Europe since graduating as an actor, director, writer, singer and artistic advisor, as well as teaching singing and directing at various music schools in Iceland.
In recent years, she directed two operas by Guðmundur Steinn Gunnarsson, as well as a graduation piece from the theatre department of the Iceland University of the Arts. She was Assistant Director of Aðventa in the Reykjavík City Theatre and wrote the script to the Icelandic song Animal Verses by Jónas Ingimundarson, which became a touring opera for children.
Currently Sigríður is starring in the musical DIETRICH, a two-hander about the life of Marlene Dietrich being performed in the Independence Hall in Reykjavík. Sigríður was nominated as Rising Star at the Icelandic Theatre Awards in 2025.
Her monologue Hidden got the the Baltic Nordic Fringe Network Awards at RVK Fringe Festival in 2023.
