The Miller-Porfiris Duo (MP2) has been delighting audiences since 2005. The duo has been artist-in-residence across the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. In recent seasons, the duo has performed at Spitalfields Festival in London, Chamber Music of Little Rock, Chamber Music Pittsburgh, Tel Aviv Museum and the Grand Teton Music Festival. Their "MP2 on the Silver Screen" concert series has garnered attention for reintroducing modern audiences to the fascinating fusion of silent film and live music.
In 2025, MP2 was part of the Grand Teton Music Festival's "On the Road" series, premiering five new compositions by Errollyn Wallen, Hildigunni Rúnarsdóttir, Anne Guzzo, Ken Steen and Stephen Gryc. This program is repeated here for the Icelandic premiere at Seigla.
Since 2005 they have commissioned and premiered 55 works for violin and viola. Their second recording, Eight Pieces, was described as a "fantastic new release" with "wonderful harmonies" and a "lively and focused performance" by Gramophone magazine. Fanfare Magazine wrote about their third album, Divertimenti: "their performance is like lightning, full of color, fire and passion." The fourth album, Threaded Sky, was described by the American Record Guide: "in the top ten of all albums I have ever written about."
