The Icelandic soprano Kristín Einarsdóttir Mantyla (Kristin E. Mantyla) grew up singing in the renowned choral tradition of Langholtskirkja in Reykjavík. After studying with Harpa Harðardóttir at the Reykjavík Academy for Vocal Arts, she continued her studies at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig with Prof. Regina Werner-Dietrich and Prof. Brigitte Wohlfarth, completing her Meisterklasse degree with highest honours in 2024. From 2022 to 2024, she also served as assistant teacher to Prof. Brigitte Wohlfarth.
Kristín has appeared at opera houses across Germany, including Leipzig, Würzburg, Bonn, Dessau, Altenburg, Brandenburg and Nordhausen, as well as with Szene 12 in Dresden and at the Schlossfestspiele Ettlingen. Recent roles include Marie in Alban Berg’s Wozzeck, the title role in the contemporary opera Svadba and Ikuma in Die Reise zu Planet 9 at Theater Bonn, Elle in Poulenc’s La voix humaine at Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavík, and Judith in Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle in Leipzig.
She has also appeared as a soloist at the Konzerthaus Berlin, Bachfest Leipzig, Rheinsberg Schlosstheater and the Icelandic Opera. She is a laureate of the Junge Stimmen Leipzig Prize and a recipient of scholarships from the Richard Wagner Society Leipzig and Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Leipzig.
