Kristín Einarsdóttir Mäntylä

soprano

Icelandic soprano Kristin E. Mantyla grew up in Sweden and Iceland, where she began singing in the choirs of Langholtskirkja at a young age. She pursued her vocal studies at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music in Leipzig under the guidance of Prof. Brigitte Wohlfarth and KS Prof. Regina Werner-Dietrich, successfully graduating with the highest honors from the Meisterschüler program in February 2024. During her studies, Kristin was one of five young singers selected for the "Oper Intensiv" program at Oper Leipzig, where she performed in the concert "Stars von Morgen."

She has appeared as a soloist at various German opera houses, taking on notable roles such as Popowa in "The Bear" at the Theater Altenburg/Gera, the Mother in "Hänsel und Gretel" at the Brandenburg Theater, Mercedes in ”Carmen” at the Schlossfestspiele Ettlingen and the second Fairy in "Rusalka" with Szene 12 in Dresden.

In her role as Marie in "Wozzeck" at the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg and Anhaltisches Theater Dessau in 2025, Kristin captivated audiences "not only with her vivid and believable portrayal of Marie but especially with her bell-like, beautifully resonant, and expressive voice in both high and low registers." Currently Kristin sings the main role of Milica at the modern Opera “Svadba” at the Bonn opera house.

Kristin is a prizewinner of Junge Stimmen Leipzig and a scholarship holder from the Richard Wagner Association Leipzig, as well as Yehudi Menuhin - Live Music Now Leipzig
