chamber choir
Det Unge VokalEnsemble, DUVE, conducted by Poul Emborg, is an ambitious and artistically driven chamber choir consisting of 24 young singers aged 18–35, several of whom are enrolled in Denmark’s professional music institutions. Founded in 2009, the ensemble has since established itself as one of Denmark’s leading young chamber choirs.
The choir places great emphasis on cultivating the individual voices and the pure, immediate quality characteristic of young vocal timbres. Many of its members are pursuing careers as professional performers, musicians, and music educators. The ensemble plays a significant role in the musical development of several emerging vocal and instrumental talents within the Danish music scene.
DUVE’s activities range from traditional church performances to experimental productions at festivals and unconventional venues with a wide-ranging repertoire, spanning Renaissance vocal polyphony and Romantic works to newly composed classical music. It is an important part of DUVE’s DNA to support young composers by commissioning pieces and working with upcoming talents from various art forms.
The mission in sharing Danish choir tradition and seeking international cultural exchange has brought the ensemble to Japan, Greenland, Estonia, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden and Norway.
